In the UK, Oxford saw a record year for its shared e-bike and e-scooter scheme in 2025, with operator Voi reporting 1.5m trips, up from 1.2m in 2024. Usage averaged 70k trips per month, peaking at 164k rides in October. Oxfordshire County Council said the scheme supports affordable short trips, reduces private car use, and contributes to zero-carbon goals, while Voi noted the city has now surpassed four million total rides since launch. Segway Wins HKQAA Sustainability AwardSegway has received the Green and Sustainable Innovation and Technology Contribution Award from the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, recognising its progress in sustainable mobility and renewable energy integration. The award highlights Segway’s use of life-cycle-assessed vehicle design, the integration of over 30% recycled materials across multiple shared-mobility models by 2025, and the expansion of rooftop solar power at its manufacturing facilities. The company has also strengthened ESG standards across its supply chain, reinforcing its broader push toward lower-carbon micromobility solutions. Beryl Rider Report Shows Micromobility Is Now A Daily Essential
Beryl’s latest Rider Report reveals that shared bikes, e-bikes, and e-scooters are now a routine part of everyday travel across the UK. With more than 11.3k responses across 17 locations, the report highlights a clear shift away from private vehicles, nearly 62% of riders say their Beryl trip replaced one that would have been made by car, taxi, or van. The data shows this shift is driven primarily by reduced car/van and taxi or ride-hailing use. Convenience is now the top reason people choose Beryl, and 41% of users say it’s their first choice for their most common journeys. E-bikes lead in popularity, with more than half of riders preferring them when given a choice, while the service also plays an important role in affordable transport options, with a notable share of riders on lower incomes or identifying as having a disability. Evolve E-Bike Share Expands to Deep Cove
Evolve E-Bike Share, operated by BCAA, has expanded its service to Deep Cove through a partnership with the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. The rollout adds seven new parking stations along Dollarton Highway, improving connections between Parkgate, Deep Cove, and surrounding North Shore communities. As part of the partnership, Tsleil-Waututh Nation members receive discounts of more than 70% across all Evolve service areas. The expansion builds on Evolve’s July launch in North Vancouver, where it replaced Lime as the region’s shared e-bike operator, and aligns with broader goals to improve access, reduce car dependence, and cut transportation-related emissions. Veo Wins Denver Micromobility Contract
Denver has selected Veo as its next shared scooter and bike operator, replacing Lime and Bird when their licenses expire in May 2026. The move shifts the city to a single-operator model and introduces tighter safety and parking rules, including sidewalk detection, radar-based collision prevention, AI-powered parking enforcement, and mandatory rider quizzes. Veo will also roll out discounted resident pricing, helmet-detection incentives, voice safety alerts, and sensors to deter unsafe riding and multiple passengers. The city will negotiate a three-year contract pending council approval, with transition details for current Lime and Bird users to follow. Solent Scheme Hits 5.55m RidesThe Solent Transport scheme has recorded 5.55m e-scooter and e-bike journeys since its launch in 2021. The scheme is operated by Voi. South Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton, and the Isle of Wight are the regions covered in this scheme. These trips have covered nearly 13m kilometres, replacing about 1.44m private car journeys. In 2025 alone, the Solent region saw 1.69m rides, contributing to Voi’s milestone of surpassing 50m rides across the UK.
Aylesbury E-Scooter Trial ExtendedIn the UK, Buckinghamshire Council is set to extend the e-scooter rental trial in Aylesbury and High Wycombe to May 2028. The Princes Risborough scheme will be discontinued due to low usage and viability. The decision also includes extending Voi’s contract to continue operating the service locally. BikeInsure Launches Two-Minute Online Enrollment PlatformBikeInsure, a U.S.-based insurtech company, has launched a new nationwide enrollment platform that allows cyclists to insure bicycles, e-bikes, and para-adaptive cycles in about two minutes. The streamlined sign-up expands access to coverage for theft, accidents, and transit damage, while operating independently of homeowners’ or renters’ insurance. Policies are underwritten by Great American Insurance Company and are available across the U.S. and Washington, DC. Cayman Islands to Enforce E-Bike and Scooter Rules
From 16 January 2026, e-bike and scooter riders in the Cayman Islands will be required to comply with existing regulations under the Traffic Law. The rules require riders to be at least 17 years old, hold a valid Category 0 or 2 driver’s licence, and ensure their vehicle is registered, licensed, and insured, with full compliance to road signs and signals. The National Road Safety Committee, working with the Ministry of Planning, police, and transport authorities, has launched an education campaign running until 15 January to help riders understand their obligations ahead of enforcement. Officials said the measures aim to improve safety by ensuring e-bikes and scooters follow the same Rules of the Road as other motor vehicles. Dorset Police Reiterate E-Bike and E-Scooter RulesDorset Police, England, have reiterated the legal requirements for e-bikes and e-scooters following seizures made during Operation Think patrols in Boscombe and Christchurch. Officers said compliant electrically assisted pedal cycles (EAPCs) must have pedals, a motor limited to 250W, and cut power at 15.5 mph, with riders aged 14 or over. Police warned that e-bikes failing to meet these standards are classed as motor vehicles and subject to registration, insurance, and licensing requirements.
