NIU Sold 350K Vehicles in Q2
NIU Technologies sold 350.1k units in Q2 2025, up 36.7% YoY from 256.2k in Q2 2024. Growth was almost entirely domestic-driven: 319k units in China (+53.6% YoY), while overseas sales fell to 31k (-35.5% YoY). China now represents about 91% of volume in Q2. The franchised store network in China expanded to 4.3k (+37.8% YoY), supporting domestic scale. Sales Revenue reached $174.8m, representing a 33.5% YoY growth. Dott Contract Concludes in Essex
As of August 13th, rental e-scooters were no longer available in Essex as the council’s contract with Dott expires. Vehicles began being removed on 11th August, ending a trial that delivered 3m trips across Chelmsford, Colchester, and Braintree since 2020. The council cited unexpected delays in securing a new operator. E-scooters in Basildon were removed earlier in June after the borough opted out of the scheme. Vaasa to Regulate Shared E-ScootersIn Vaasa, Finland, micromobility permits will be mandatory for commercial e-scooter rentals starting January 2026 under the amended Act on Transport Services. The permits will allow the city to regulate parking, speed, and operating hours to improve safety and reduce healthcare costs from accidents. Current providers include Dott and Ryde. Although the law requires permits within a month, municipalities can delay until January 2026. Vaasa has opted to postpone the permit to finalize the detailed terms and conditions. LimeGlider E-bikes Debut in Long Beach
Lime has launched about 100 new LimeGlider throttle e-bikes in Long Beach, adding to its 2k rental e-scooters. LimeGliders feature footrests instead of pedals, designed for riders who prefer comfort or cannot pedal long distances. Long Beach has had mixed experiences with scooters, logging over 11k violations in 2024, but recently approved their use on its 3.5-mile beach bike path. Since 2018, 600k Long Beach riders have taken more than 2.4m trips with Lime. Victoria Seeks Input for Bike-ShareVictoria plans to launch a bike-share program and is seeking public input on preferred destinations before September 24th. Feedback will guide parking zone locations near bike routes, key spots, and accessible areas. Victoria sees strong potential for bike share, following Langford’s recent rollout of 150 e-bikes and e-scooters at 30 locations. Bosch's Connectivity Platform Bosch eBike Systems is opening its platform to create new business models for connected, premium micromobility. In this Micromobility Europe 2025 talk, Bastian Kneissl (Entrepreneur, Bosch eBike Systems) shares how Bosch is enabling fleet operators, brands, and service providers to unlock the power of real-time bike data. Port Moody Launches Micromobility PilotPort Moody, BC, launched a shared e-bike and e-scooter program as part of a two-year pilot. The city has installed 46 designated parking zones, starting with 150 vehicles and expanding to 250 within a year. A third-party operator will handle operations, with a contract lasting at least two years and an option for a third. Beryl E-Scooters Arrive in Christchurch
Christchurch has joined the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council’s e-scooter trial after a long wait, with Beryl launching 100 e-scooters in the town on August 15. The expansion follows strong demand in Bournemouth and Poole, where 2.66m trips have already been recorded. Nationwide e-scooter trials have been extended until 2028, and a 2024 survey found e-scooters to be the most preferred option in the BCP area. However, Beryl previously ended some e-bike schemes in nearby towns due to low demand. Lime Expands Throttle Bike Fleet to San FranciscoLime has introduced the LimeGlider, its throttle bike model, in San Francisco, deploying a fleet of 250 across the city. These pedal-less bikes launched in Seattle this spring after pilot programs in Seattle, Atlanta, and Zurich last year. They quickly outpaced standing models in popularity and have since expanded to Denver and Austin. Featuring footrests, a lower center of gravity, ergonomic grips, and wider baskets, the LimeGlider is designed to better serve groups traditionally underrepresented in Lime’s ridership, such as women and seniors. Spin Launches E-Scooters in Fort MyersSpin has launched its shared electric scooter service in Fort Myers, Florida, providing residents and visitors aged 18+ with an affordable, eco-friendly alternative to cars for downtown travel. Safety rules prohibit sidewalk riding. The service aims to reduce traffic congestion and emissions while supporting the city’s goals for enhanced connectivity, pedestrian safety, and last-mile transit solutions. Fort Myers now joins multiple Florida cities in Spin’s integrated network, which also connects with another major provider, enabling statewide access via cross-app compatibility. Helsinki Tests Smart E-Scooter Parking
Helsinki has launched a three-month parking technology pilot to improve e-scooter parking and reduce sidewalk obstruction. The project, led by Forum Virium Helsinki in partnership with Norwegian firm Sparkpark, will see around 20 sensors installed at e-scooter parking areas across four districts, including Pasila and Kallio.
